Oh, I'm sorry to hear that, 15 years is a long time tho!My leopard gecko of 15 years just passed away this month. I wasn’t going to get another one, but it just feels right after having a leopard gecko for more than half my life already. This one is a girl, I think, I’m waiting a few days before I bother her too much by checking.
I wouldn’t say leopard geckos are particularly active once they mature but they’re curious and definitely one of the lizards that I’d say are generally friendly. This one isn’t a fan of being held (yet) but she’s not afraid at all of me and accepts food from my fingers already on day 2.Yep! They're pretty chill little guys.View attachment 3676225

She's sooooo cute! I love her spots
Are they friendly after a while? I'm not a fan of their food but I love their chubby features and smiling faces, so eventually I may get one. I do like pets that are somewhat personable, they don't have to be friendly, but at least curious or active.
Those whiptail lizards actually make AMAZING pets. I had one when I was young and it was like a miniature tegu or monitor, all of the activity levels with none of the size and potential temperament issues. My chickens like eating those. I've always wondered if it was safe to feed my bearded dragon rex the baby garden skinks. They are barely bigger than the crickets so![]()
huh i might have to try keeping one! i do see my chickens eat them when they get the chance and you're right due to the possible problems Rex probably shouldn't eat them. Those whiptail lizards actually make AMAZING pets. Feeding wild caught lizards to your pet lizard is not a good idea, due to parasite and disease transmission.![]()
To clarify, I think a lizard feeder here and there wouldn’t be a bad thing for a bearded dragon. It’s certainly a small component of their natural diet.huh i might have to try keeping one! i do see my chickens eat them when they get the chance and you're right due to the possible problems Rex probably shouldn't eat them.
ah okay i understand a bit better know! thanks! i was doing a bit of 2am research on bearded dragons as one does at 2am in the morning and i saw that bearded dragons will eat other tiny tiny baby bearded dragons and other small lizards or small baby birds like the button quail native to where they live or basically any living thing big enough to fit into their mouth. So that made me wonder if feeding tiny a small baby garden skink here and there or maybe a frozen pinky mice in case if the pet store is out of crickets or meal worms. im actually getting a breeding setup for various kinds of insects like crickets, super worms, wax worms, horn worms, and silk worms! i think giving his bug side of his diet more variety might be good for him! im also growing lots of plants for him so i can cut the cost of veg\greens as the prices in the stores are rising. To clarify, I think a lizard feeder here and there wouldn’t be a bad thing for a bearded dragon. But if you were going to offer them I’d suggest a frozen/thawed feeder gecko/anole vs a wild lizard.
