What kind if crickets should I get for Penny my house gecko? The ones we usually yet are noisy when they get older. I'm about to oder some for the first time online, what size, how often, and how many? Shes about 5 inches long including her tail. We usually get 15 large crickets from petco a week.

I'm thinking about getting a snake. I don't know very much about them though so I thought I start here.
What would be a good breed?
Are they expensive to keep?
About how much space to they need?
Feeding (what/when/how)?

Ball pythons are a good starter species to have. You can get the cheaper morphs for around 20-40 dollars in some places. They don't need much space and a 20-30 gallon long terrarium can suffice. Snakes of smaller species can eat once or twice a week, and bigger snakes can eat every two weeks. Ball pythons are docile, but they can be kind of finicky about eating frozen thawed mice at times. 2 q: well it depends how much the rats cost where you live and if you buy a good cage ...

I agree with everyone else, ball-pythons are a great beginners snake! We are still beginners but DH has been doing research for yyyeeaaarrrrssss.
Given you have the right set up, they're WAY easier and less expensive to take care of than chickens. Needed space depends on size of snake but ball-pythons only get up to 4-5ft. Everyone has different preferences in feeding, you'll have to do a lot of research on your own to really decide what will work for you; I have heard a lot of places only allow frozen meals but, my DH feeds live mice once a week without issues. He handles his snakes often (not right before/during/after feedings) and have had no issues.

Ball pythons, western hognose, and corn snakes are probably the most popular types of snakes in the pet trade.

Ball pythons can be tricky sometimes when it comes to feeding. Some ppl do F/T, but i only feed live. And a handful i have to get African soft furred rats.

Hoggies can be difficult to feed when they first hatch, but then turn into garbage disposals once you get them to take mice.

I have never kept corn snakes, so you will have to do your own research for that species.

I just watched some videos by Snake Discovery.
It will really depend on how big and how long they live. I wouldn't want to get an animal that I cannot provide the best life and if I don't have space for a large cage I'll wait until I'm older and have my own house.

Today I went to a nature park with lots of birds of prey that were beautiful, but I went inside and they had a baby Rainbow Boa. I've always wanted a snake but seeing and holding him (the snake) made me want one even more.
Anyways, I was wondering if Rainbow Boas are good pets? I haven't been able to find a whole lot of info on them so they may not be good for beginners. I really do love their coloring and the rainbow shimmer they have (shimmer?).
