Reptipro 5000 Hatch-A-Long (=

Omg lucky you!! What a cutie, look at those feet! You're making the wait that much harder lol, but I'm so glad you're getting some chicks, my last batch of Japanese chicks were 2 days early. Thats funny about the geese becoming sassy & the hidden best stashed away lol, too cute!

And the postal service strikes again... grr.. they have 3 boxes of emu eggs "lost" in their system.. in other words they are probably sitting at my local post office and they are holding them hostage...
they were supposed to be here today...

in other news the quail ladies have been laying better every day.. so as soon as I get the cartons (which Melissa's post office is probably holding them hostage too... have I mentioned lately that I don't like the postal service???) I can send some to their new happy homes for incubation!

Stupid PO. Man, they are not batting well lately. I am still very anxious about if any of mine are going to hatch. The seller has shipped hundreds of eggs and only ever had a hairline fracture. I had 5 decimated eggs. Completely crushed.

I'll be happy to have 2 or 3 babies.

Maybe I'll ask for the Reptipro 6000 for a Valentines Day/Mothers Day gift. I was going to go with the Brinsea, but they don't seem to have a lot of room in them, and are more expensive. This seems like a nice mid-size, affordable unit. Do they sell the egg turners for it or do you use some other egg turner? What about the cord? How does that work?

oh ya gotta love the postal service...

the eggs were due to arrive on the 19th... according to tracking.. the eggs were "processed through" Austin at 3:32 AM on the 20th...
Austin is 75 miles from us... so I figured I would just get them a day late.. on the 20th... uhm... NO.. the eggs apparently decided to take a scenic route.. from Austin they went to Waco which is 70 miles from us.. closer right?.. well.. not when you consider that Austin is 101 miles FROM Waco.... so ok.. it took the eggs until 10:44 PM on the 20th to get to Waco.. from Waco they went to Woodway.. which according to google maps is 4 TENTHS of a mile from Waco.. took 4 hours to do that since they arrived in Woodway at 2:45 AM this morning.... personally I think the Pony Express was faster.....

they still haven't made it to my post office...
it takes us a little less than an hour to get to Austin when we go there...

no wonder the postal service is having problems and losing money... all the gas they are using for the scenic routes plus their customer service.... yeah...

normally when we get a box coming through Austin we would get it the same day and it would go from Austin to our post office without the side trip to Waco....
the eggs didn't even send me a post card.. and I doubt they are bringing me a "I got lost in Waco and all i got was this lousy t shirt"...

Yes they sell egg turners.. I haven't gotten any for mine yet and there's no rush for me to get the turners since the emu eggs wouldn't fit in them.. lol

from my understanding there are notches cut into the door frame where the cord feeds through.. Chris may be able to post a few pics of how the turners look and exactly how the cord goes through the door opening

Well I hate that I'm not the only one getting terrible USPS shipments, heck I candled earlier & I'm down to 1 chicken egg & 1 duck egg out 51 shipped! What a bummer

When I get my income tax return back on Febuary 1, I'm definitely driving the 2 hours to pick up the 2-4 emu eggs I want...

I got my 5000 because of this site,
I have 10 emu eggs in mine but they are all first year eggs so they are small.
when they start hatching I am going to hot glue gun 2 popsicle sticks together to stop any eggs from rolling off the shelf
my temps are always 1 degree less than what it says on the readout, temp shown is low because I just turned eggs.
there is never a difference of more than 1 degree inside the whole incu.
they are due march 4th

Wow puzzler, 10? That's great & they're due the 11th which is even more exciting lol. Well it's official, I'm going to pick up some emu eggs in Ohio February 2nd & I've decided to take my incubator with me so I can buy however many I can get to fit! So I'm really optimistic about getting some emu chicks out of it, picking them up so to avoid shipping damage then the accurate temps of my reptipro . I was thinking of just ordering 4 or so already hatched chicks but I'm not sure. The farm I get chicks from sells them for $50 each then $55 shipping with a 4 chick minimum so either $255 for 4 gauranteed chicks or $200 for 8 eggs that may or may not hatch...hmmm decisions, decisions!
