OK, I talked to Chris at Reptipro and might I say, I am impressed. He said the new 6000 units would run about the same or possibly.......less than the 5000 models. They are checking with their plastic mfg. company in few days to finalize the costs. They have listened and made every effort to improve this incubator! Plus (and this is important to me) it is assembled in the USA, some of the unit is almost entirely USA made and it is USA based!
Anyway, I think I have found the unit I want and now I will have to behave myself and wait for about 2 weeks to get one......

Meanwhile, I must limp along on my old styrofoam Hovabators and pray for a better result than the last one...........

BTW, I'm still trying to figure out what one would do with an emu, once it was hatched! I've seen the size of their poops and I must tell you, I think
my pony has less output.....plus, she doesn't look my aged 4'11" (likely shrinking) self in the eyes like Emus do! Yikes!

So often, things just appear at our house. Box of hatching eggs, a few new pullets.............used to be horses, so I think he's a little relieved now.
Chris is great! I am glad I kept reading this thread, because I have learned alot from the feedback of others like yourself and then talking to him. Plus,
got the debut of the new unit................Wahoo!

yeah... my husband just tries to ignore the new additions.. when i told him i was getting emu eggs he thought i was nuts.. then this morning he was making plans for a playpen in the house for them when they are babies...

I know he's gonna fall in love with them.. same as he did with the quail.. it went from "why do you think you need quail?".. to "awww.. they are so cute... I could watch them for hours"..
