Ok. You guys have got me so excited that I just pulled the plug on a ReptiPro6000 with two egg turners for the kids! This post has been so exciting! Now I just need to get to looking for some hatching eggs soon. Thank you all so much for all of the wonderful posts and helpful info. This place is so full of wonderful bird lovers who are willing to help one another.

what kind of hatching eggs are you looking for and where are you located?..

there is the buy/sell section of the forum and ebay.. plus you never know.. there may be someone here who is local who could throw a few test eggs your way

You guys are too much. Yes, I have heard some negative also about eggs on ebay. I am in Thomson GA which is in East Central GA. I have about 25 pullets right now of several different varieties. All hatchery birds.

I ultimately want to hatch some eggs that are from better quality stock. Of course, I would love to see plenty of quail running around my property too, so I want to hatch those also. First things first, maybe some types OEG bantams, BLRW, and whatever else I can think of! Thanks for all of the help guys!

I'm about to order me some coturnix quail eggs on ebay. I want some meat and egg birds that mature fast. Within 6 weeks you can eat them. Good luck to ya Craig.

Well so far 9 out of the 17 have hatched!!!!!!! This is probably the best hatch I have ever had. I love this incubator! I see more holes in the eggs, so hopefully more will hatch. Oh and by the way I dried incubated. This was also the first time I had ever dried incubated. I like this method and I am sticking with it!

Ok, so this is my first hatch in the Reptipro 5000. For that matter, it's my first hatch in anything. Day 21 was Tuesday of this week. We are now day 23. I have 2 that hatched (had to help them a bit), and 2 that have pipped. I candled a couple of the others and there is movement inside. How long before I should panic? Here has been my issue. I can't get the humidity up to 70. I feel like I have built a small bathtub inside there. It holds just fine, but wants to sit at 60 or 65. The temp holds good. Although I am thinking, since I bought this used and without a manual, that I may have missed the part until just the other day about the 3 degree difference on the bottom shelf. Which coincidentally, is where i set my eggs for lockdown. The 2 that hatched seem just fine. One of the pipped has a hole through, but doesn't seem to interested in moving any further. I was thinking of trying the float test later today just to see where we are at. Being my first hatch, my expectations haven't been set really high, however, I do want to diagnose what went wrong to avoid repeating the same mistakes.

Any help/thoughts/ideas would be appreciated.

Well I hatched out 10. I had 2 non fertile eggs and 5 were chicks that just didn't hatch out. That is really good for me. I use to have a foam incubator and them things are just trash. I also dried incubated this time and I am sticking with that. it has been awesome. Now I am ordering some Quail eggs. LOL I love this!!!!

That's more than 50% hatch rate....pretty good, I think!
I have been calibrating my new 6000 since yesterday, and I think I'm ready to try it out. My Call ducks have started giving me eggs here and there, so I'm going to run a test hatch on chicken eggs. I want to get the feel of it before I put Call eggs in it. I just put in 9 bantam eggs, and 1 duck egg for good measure. I'll be dry incubating, too. We'll see how it goes. I'm looking at getting a Janoel still-air incubator to use as a hatcher, so I can run staggered hatches in the 6000. I'll candle in a few days and hopefully have something good going on in there
