Rescue eggs - NO inclubator!

I think 13 eggs is too many for one mama. I think they recommend no more than 6 or 7

Peeking!

We didn't know she was setting on so many. We only found her nest a few days ago and didn't want to disturb her.

She has 8 chicks! I can't wait for them to start coming out so we can get better pictures :)

3 weeks old - all 8 and Momma are doing great! They are starting to feather. Very interesting colors so far, and 2 of them have no tail feathers... yet :)

Congrats on your little family. My broody has 6 chicks. (3.5 weeks old) It's such a pleasure to see them interacting. If you didn't know she had that many eggs, she was covering them well. I think the size of brood a hen can successfully set is related to her size and her skill. If the eggs all stay out of sight, there aren't too many. Many folks tell of hens who disappear for a while and return with 10-14 or more chicks 3 weeks later.

Thank you :)

Something cute is happening with the chick's tail feathers - 3 of them HAVE tail feathers, and 5 of them do not LOL.
