Hello all so I had a thought! I’ve been messaging people and everyone seems to be changing their story and then I end up with no females and all males lol. One lady went from giving us 6 females to saying she can only sell me one female or all males lol.. bad luck.
Phil really is getting along with Bruce well. It’s a shame I can’t separate them at the moment ..but Luce also cares less about him I think Pancake and Waffles are also distracting him.
So my thought was to wait until pancake lays this spring and try to hatch some of her eggs. I know that’s not very simple butttt, if they do hatch and all goes well I can have the babies around Bruce pretty often ( supervised of course) and since he is so sweet I am hopeful he will be their mama.
Question about that though. If they are pancakes eggs will she know? Like if they hatch is she going to be like hey those look familiar or will she not care since I’ll be incubating them?

She’ll probably want to steal them from you, “geese love babies!” I don’t think she’ll know that they’re hers.
I ended up having to do that with Parsnip, I couldn’t find any girls that didn’t have a gander in my area so I did the desperate thing and ordered two goslings “ that’s how I got Delphi and Apricot.” He didn’t care for them while they were little but he didn’t take to them like I’d hoped when they finally looked like adults though, all he wanted was to be with his dad, I guess you just can’t predict how everyone’s going to mesh.
I’m thrilled Phillip and Bruce are getting along so well, they might decide on it being a permanent thing.

That’s so funny! Ya I would get goslings but I really want to try the hatching thing! I was going to try chickens first but oh well!

So even though I tell my hubby he has no say because I 98% take care of all of the animals he keeps saying he wants dewlap Toulouse.
So apparently me hatching geese has turned into. “Let’s just get day olds!” So this is what we ended up ordering..
3 Dewlap Toulouse (2 fem 1 male)
2 Sebastopol (2 girls) my choice!!!
1 Roman Tuft ( female)
2 Indian runner ducks because we’ve wanted those for a while!
Ended up being sooooo much money eek but I am so excited!!! That ended up being my Valentine’s Day gift haha. You know you’re a crazy goose lady when that’s the gift!
We have an unfinished basement so I’ve been planning on converting to a baby bird room. So I’m going to put wire etc. I will make a new thread when I get the babies!
This weekend we will start building a new coop for waffles and pancake and the others will stay there eventually.

Thank you!!! So the thing is there’s a few different dates the runners are supposed to be very beginning of March so he clicked the box that said deliver them all together so hopefully that happens. I’ll have more than one brooder just in case though. From purely poultry have you ever heard of them?

I ordered Salmon Faverolle from Purely Poultry in 2017 I really liked dealing with them, When I ordered they were middle man for breeders across the country, I believe my chicks came from MO.
