Rescue - what kind of chicken is it?

More photos attached. A quail? I did not think of that. I sneaked a few more photos.

The chick does not look to have a tail? And it definitely is not a rumpless chicken because those things look... weird.

If it does not have a tail, or much of one, it could very likely be a quail.

That could be possible, we need a better picture to confirm and see if it is just the angle.

You are right though, it does look quail-like but that could just be from it being hunched over because it is scared and not feeling too good.

The wings are very long and the tail is super short.

Interesting. That really does sound like it could be a quail. Or a chicken mix with Araucana in it.

It doesn't look like my Aracaunas ~ but then I'm in Oz & our Aracaunas are a little different to yours.

It looks like it's tail feathers were pull out. Only one showing. It has pin feathers.

I'm thankful it survived the night but I need to get to a vet for it's leg. I'm feeding it chick starter.

I have never had an Araucana but it is a chicken without a tail.

You are probably right. I did a wrap on it's leg and foot this morning and found it has tail feathers that were stuck underneath. What kind of chicken I'm not sure. Maybe a mix.

Definitely a chicken, & male. It's got double Barring. Thinking Cuckoo Marans, or possibly an olive egger.
