Rescued abandoned egg

Compared to the article you linked, I think my air cells are a little small. Momma has taken the chick back well so far so I have pulled as much water out of the well that I can and I think I am just going to let it run dry (as long as it stays above 25%) until lock down on Thursday. Do you think that's a decent plan?
Congrats!! Yeah, that sounds great.

Awesome! Thanks for all your help!!
You are welcome. If you think that they are still quite small at lockdown, you can hatch them upright in cutdown egg cartons and that will help keep any excess liquid in the shell from entering the internal pip and drowning the chicks.

Okay cool! They are already in a cut down carton set on a piece of 1/2" conduit for "turning" purposes. It would be pretty easy to just take the conduit out from underneath it. Eventually I'll get an automatic turner...;)

I started with the automatic turner and switched to hand turning...lol Many people woulld rather have the automatic turners though.

I mainly want one because I am gone for 10+ hours a day during the week and I don't feel like the turing I am able to do is sufficient considering the literature that I have read

Turners are convient and they are good for the hatcher who works or isn't home regularly during the day. I am able to be home so turning isn't an issue for me and it feeds my inability to be hands off....lol

So I candled the eggs again last night (tomorrow is lock down) and it looks like I have roughly half that are wuitters between candling at day 7 and yesterday :/

Could some of that be due to high humidity levels? There is no odor so I will leave them for now just in case, but they were all collected within 2 days and set in incubator at the same time.
