Rescued Duck Eggs .... ETA: Video on 2nd page, normal??

Same basic principles apply to duck hatching as chicks, only ducks can take longer from pip to zip. When they get ready to start internally pipping, the air cell will change shape. we call it drawdown. I have a pic if you don't know what i mean. But if they haven't drawn down, then they have at least another day or two to go.

A pic would be great. Most have that half saddle shape but a couple don't, if that's what you mean. I'll Google awhile. Ty

What do you say about the humidity?

I have 4 with these low sacs and 3 with smaller sacs but these pics show the biggest 2 and smallest one

Those don't look too bad, I would expect pips within the next couple of days!

Here's a pic of one that had drawn down, already internally pipped too, but no external pip when i took this. See how the air cell is no longer uniform around the edges? That's what happens when they start getting into hatching position

Perfect thanks! And still a couple days away? Should I rotate or leave it now? And also, what humidity should it be at

Nah just leave them now. Turning isn't as important for the last week really, so you're fine. How humid is it where you live? I like around 65%. Not too high that they are too wet for the shell to be crisp when they zip, but not too dry that they get stuck.

you do have the lowest side of the air cell laying upward, correct?

yup. air cell up and its not very humid at all. and ok, i'll let it drop some. I kept reading on multiple sights that ducks need higher humidity. a few of those sites were from hatchery type sites. Our humidity is around 45-50

Is this normal? There is only 1 of the 7 that does this, it seems watery-ish... my chicken eggs never had this. Is this a dead one?

I had a couple like that under my duck momma right now. I'm pretty sure they are goners, but I think I left one. Do you see any movement from the duckling inside?

And smell that egg. I expect mine are dead, but I was going to try to check again this evening when its darker outside. I couldn't get a real good look the other day.
