Rescued Roo from next door (now known as Larry) (pics on post #30)

Great, cause this roo is so heavy, I was huffing and puffing carrying him from next door. And he's limping, I don't know if it's an injury or his weight causing it.

Not to defend this guy since I don't know him, but I had a cornishX that all mychickens bullied unmercifully. I ended up butchering him because he was completely bald and pecked and cold. I had tried all the tricks, but I think the cornishx are so foreign to the other chickens and so ill equipped to BE chickens that they are pecked on. Maybe your neighbor just didn't know what to do. I have a neighbor with alot of roos that is a vegetarian so had to ask ffriends to eventually reduce the flock. Beginners can make mistakes, and it sucks that it has to be at the expense of an animal, but maybe you can guide them.

Thank goodness they have you as a neighbor! It seems as though you have taken the right approach with them, and they're willing to listen to your suggestions. Kudos to you for the compassion you have shown to both the chickens AND the neighbors, and for taking the time and effort to educate them and to help.

He's on a diet today. He is grossly too fat. I don't know what to think but his comb looks red but dark red, really dark red. I think he got picked on cause his weight was really slowing him down and he couldn't get away.

If he's on a diet, how much food should he get?
