my chick has been improving but is not yet fully recovered so i have still been looking at the problem. Honestly i am scared by finding that avian influenza, or bird flu fits the majority of the symptoms of my bird. this may be the case for others as well as i read these threads. this improvement of my bird brings up another question: if the bird survives, is it safe to replace her in the flock and how long before i do once she fully recovers? I'm not positive that it is ai but the symptoms are very fitting which makes me wonder about the recovery, or if ai is a death sentence. i'm getting with my extension office but am hoping someone may have some experience and insight on here. please reply y'all!

I would suggest that you research who your chickens have been in contact with and what their risk of having it is. The risk is probably small with your one chicken. The majority of symptoms of any chicken illness can be alot of different things.

Why would this one hen have it? It would have to come from some chicken that had it.
