Ok so when I'm at the chicken coop, I sometimes hear sneezing but I don't know which chicken is doing it. They all seem healthy and happy but this evening I went to check and make sure they were all on the roost and one of them caught my attention. Her eyes almost seem droopy and real whitish around her eyes. I also noticed that under her eyes there isn't many feathers like the others have and on the little area with no feathers, there is a little black mark that almost looks like mucus but I don't know what it is. Could this be linked with the sneezing and what can I do to fix this??

You probably need to start by figuring out if the two things are related, by isolating that chicken and keeping an eye on her to see if it's her that's sneezing.

I agree to separate any chickens sneezing. Look closely at her eyes for bubbles in the eye, discharge or swelling around eyes. Look for nasal discharge. There is a drug called Tylan 50 which can be given as a shot into the breast muscle for 3 days. Dosage is 1/2 ml. for large fowl and 1/4 ml. for small or banty. This is about $12 at some farm stores. It can be given orally for a longer period, but is not as effective. Don't use Tylan 200. I would start this if you are convinced there is a respiratory disease.

I can't separate her because she will go crazy but I will spend some time in the pen tomorrow And keep a close eye on her. The only part that worries me is her eye because the sneezing has gone on for a while now

If it is a serious respiratory disease, Tylan is about the strongest. Duramycin in water works for some diseases, but Tylan is what I would use. I have seen Vet RX, but haven't used it. It's very easy to give a shot when you are holding a chicken, another can give it into the breast muscle.

I am just not comfortable at all with giving a shot to one of my birds. I have researched and I think I will try VetRX and if it doesn't work then I will resort to giving a shot.

We have had the same thing. Tried vet RX . Tried oxine. Now going to try. The tylan . Have given patriot shots now time try a chickens. We have lost 4. To this so far. I will try any thing now. Pariots were easy. Chickens can't be much different.

You can give the Tylan by mouth for 5 days, but the shots for 3 days is quicker, and more potent. Same dose--1/2 ml for large fowl and !/4 ml for small.
