She was my first duck, an introduction to the crazy and wonderful world of duck ownership. She taught me so much. She survived a fisher attack that took out the rest of her family 5 years ago before coming into my life. She survived so many crises. She was a lover of mealworms, and an adoptive mother to her Muscovy “daughters” and a loving sister to Matilda.

Daphne sadly has a prolapsed vent, and after a tough spring and at least 5 years of reproductive issues, I think this is it. I can not let her suffer.

I’m at the emergency vet now as I can not do it myself.

I love you, Daphne, and I’m sorry I couldn’t give you one more summer.

Aww I’m so sorry 😞. It’s always hard to lose any pet. I’m sure you gave her a really good, happy, and fulfilled life. Every animal has got to go at some time, but knowing that still doesn’t make it any easier.

But do know this: you helped her and made it possible for her to have the best life she could live. If she is suffering, then this is the best option.

I’m so sorry :hugs

Thank you all so very much! :hugs Daphne does indeed have a significant prolapse with an oviduct and surrounding tissue involved. They were able to reduce it somewhat, but not totally. The only option would be stapling her almost shut until surgery could be done (repair + spay). I can’t bear to see her suffer, so I’m moving forward with euthanasia.Bless you all for all of your support tonight and for the past 5 years!
