Rest in Peace Nugget

I like your new avatar. It's been almost a year since I lost the Biggest Little Rooster, and I still miss him. Maybe Nugget is up there telling him about his kids.

I'm so so sorry to hear about your loss. It seems that with all the joy that comes with raising chickens there is also a good bit of sorrow. They are pretty fragile creatures and are pretty low on the feed chain. It's a shame that with all the preditor loss that you would lose your pet to a falling fence. Somethings are hard to figure out, but I do belivev there is a reason for everything. Look at how your group of friends rallied around you during your difficult journey. Once again, my condolences.

The day of windstorm the highest recorded wind gust was 119mph, we were expecting up to 65mph, but this desert bowl I live in the wind rushes between the Franklin Mts, the Guadalupe's and the Organ Mts. and we get some wild winds at times. He wasn't usually in that area but this time he was for some reason. The ducks and smaller hens live in that pen and I'm surprised none of them got caught under it too.

I have been out of town and off-line and just now saw this. I'm so, so sorry, WoW. I'm sitting here bawling like a baby. Nugget was one of my favorites and I always loved the stories you posted of him. The skunk story is hysterical and always makes me giggle. I also loved the picture of Puddy eating and Nugget eyeing the plate on the picnic table with a great deal of interest.

Nugget was a great boy and I know you are going to miss him. We all will.

Thanks! I'm still getting used to walking out to feed and him not being first in line! He'd always be there first, I toss feed, he'd scratch it around and then the ladies would eat and after that he let the other roos in the area eat, and then he would eat last. Of course I added to it for him!
