I know that for shipped eggs they need to rest before setting. What about eggs picked up? This weekend I am picking up my first dozen hatching eggs. They come from someplace 60 miles from here, will be driven to a relative's house and I will pick them up from there which is about a 15-min drive. I don't know yet how much time there will be between their 60-mile drive and their 15-min drives. Do I need to let them rest for the 24 hours before setting or should I set right away, or something in between?

8 hours at least. Let them rest. Better to be safe than sorry!
