Restless Leg Syndrome?

My hubby has this problem but it may be of restless something else.

When he comes to bed, gets settled in, he would jerk his left arm and leg at the same time for every seven to ten seconds for an hour before he shifts sides. Then he starts up again. I do not know what this is called but it looks like tics.

It keeps me up most of the nights. When I mentioned it to him, he would have to tie up his arms together in his underwear to keep them from hitting me or arms flying outward, like if he was swatting a fly near his ear. ALL night long! His legs would kick outward. Its like a timing clock, every seven seconds, he would do it repeatly.

He does not drink caffeine, nor eats red meat. He does not eat any fruits or veggies. He is mainly a peanut butter sandwich, FF, ice cream, potato (chips or mashed), water and loves sweets but we dont have sweets that much in the house.

He donates blood at the Red Cross like clockwork and his iron contents are good. Once in a blue moon when he over exterts himself the day before, his iron would be pretty low but not anemic. He had his physical checkup and doc said he is fine, nothing is low and choestrol is very good.

Now would this consider to be restless left side syndrome???????

sounds like this one:

Periodic Limb Movement Disorder
The medical term for periodic limb movement disorder (PLMD) is nocturnal myoclonus. PLMD symptoms include:

Episodes that usually occur during the night, peaking near midnight, as they do in restless legs syndrome (RLS).
Leg muscles contract and jerk every 20 - 40 seconds during sleep. Such movements may last less than 1 second, or as long as 10 seconds.
Unlike RLS, contractions in PLMD usually do not wake patients. PLMD is distinct from the brief and sudden movements that occur just as people are falling asleep, jolting them awake.
Although 80% of RLS sufferers have PLMD, only about 30% of people with PLMD also have RLS. While treatments for the two conditions are similar, PLMD is a separate syndrome. PLMD is also very common in narcolepsy, a sleep disorder that causes people to fall asleep suddenly and uncontrollably.

He can fall asleep in his chair in a hearbeat or within five minutes of sitting in his chair and he was out like a light.

Is there any treatment for it or how did this come about? He works second or graveyard shifts from ten pm to three and does not go in bed about five am. Gets up around noon or one pm.

Will check into this!

I lost almost all circulation to my legs while prego with my daughter. Had to do the hose and the whole nine yards. It's taking me a long time to restore the circulation and get the skin to even turn back to a normal color. I get the leg creeps most nights still. I HAVE to do strenuous leg exercise everyday and on a really rough night I sleep with my eggs as far above my heart on a pillow as I can stand it. I also take vitamin supplements and I've cut out the caffeine. I don't eat much red meat but I have noticed less of the creeps when I eat more fish. Don't know if there's anything to it. Hope you get some relief.

Ahahahaha...LEGS above my head. Eggs. That's gotta be a freudian slip.
