Restoring An Old Hen-house

Ok, so it's been a bit too long since i actually had a new pic to put up so lets remind ourselves what I STARTED out with on the back (North) side:

Sumac, Pecan Trees, Privet Hedge, and Weather Rot:






Ok, Well I got rid of the weeds and overgrowth... Still a bit of a sad sight:


Added some Lumber at the base:


Also started removing the siding that was beyond salvage. Amazingly I have noticed that with half of the back wall missing, there is a very nice draft through the building at all times and I am seeing a HUGE increase in the number of wasps, bees, and generally annoying bugs inside:


And, I'm sorry that this last one is so blurry, the camera took one last pic before the battery died, but there wasn't enough juice for the focus I guess. Better one coming tomorrow. I promise. You can kind of see how much siding I got put up today:

Wow what great progress and that new siding is a fabulous fit. That new siding is going to age just like the rest. Give it a year or two to weather before you coat it with tongue oil and you wont be able to tell the difference.

The best poison ivy cream I have found is Tecnu. It helps prevent you from breaking out and it will speed healing by releasing the urushiol from your skin that makes you break out. Here is a link.:
