Restraining Killing Cones For Sale

Will these work with larger chickens, such as Buff Orphingtons or Production reds?

Absolutely- I have BO's for layers, and there's no doubt that they'd fit in the cones just fine. Many people from BYC have used the cones for a variety of breeds other than Cornish X's, and I haven't heard of any problems.

Have enjoyed this thread. Two questions:

1) will they accomodate pekin ducks (7 wk old - not much bigger than a large chicken)

2) can you produce a version that would have a handle for hanging over a tree branch?

I guess the other option would be to have a nail on a fence that you just slip it on when you're ready to do the deed?

1) I've never tried them on ducks, but I see no reason why they wouldn't. I think that between everyone on BYC and on eBay that's bought one, just about every size chicken has been tried, and I haven't heard anyone with a problem fitting any yet- from 6 week olds to the person here that was putting 14lb Cornish X's in them. They should work great!

2) They are made of lightweight sheet metal, so they'd be easy for you to modify. That would be my suggestion, since you'd be the best judge of exactly what you'd need.

Thanks for the interest!

All ordered cones as of today have been shipped- also, an update. I am now making the cones with a spot welder, rather than pop rivets. This makes for a much smoother surface inside, which is easier to slip your birds into. It also looks a lot neater. I'm still working on my design for a turkey cone- updates coming soon.
Thanks to everyone who's ordered cones so far!

Absolutely- just PM me with you address and how many you'll be ordering, and I'll give you a price for shipping. Thanks for your interest!

I've gone back to the pop rivets for construction. DON'T buy the spot welder from Harbor Freight- it died on me, and I don't think it was defective, just a piece of junk, so I just returned it. It seems like the rivets made for a sturdier cone too.

I built almost identicle cones a couple months ago and I must say they work great! Makes for easy handling, keeps the birds from bruising, and alows you to work on other things while the birds bleed out.
