~ Retired and Starting My Future In The Foothills ~

I read this whole thread and couldn't believe when I read about the complaint.....I say find out who it is and egg the house

....OK, not such a good idea and we're too old for such antics.....but my gosh you have a pissy neighbor to deal with. This will be settled, and it will get settled in your favor....I've "promised" to change zoning if my 'less then an acre' in the middle of 20 acre ag zoning couldn't have what everyone around me had and they'd rather find a way to make it OK for you than go through what it costs for rezoning. Good luck and don't give up!

We have a semi-good idea of who most likely turned her in.

The thing that worries me the most is that they had to have gone through her closed gates, up the hill where her house is, and looked inside a window to even know that the chicks were there (the complaint was made on 7/13, and the only thing she had in the coop at the time was a handful of 3-week-old chicks). Nobody could have known they were there, had they not violated the gates and gone up on her property to her house.

I think Linda's 2 little weenie dogs are not enough. She needs a bigger dog.

Linda also needs to post "No Trespassing" signs all around the property, and let it be known that violators WILL be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.

And she needs peafowl.

Seriously, though, if the realtors really did talk to the planning office, and were told that you were perfectly within your rights to keep chickens on the property, I'd think the county would be bending over backwards to give you a CUP or variance (I forget which applies in this situation).

that this all gets worked out, and soon.

~*Sweet Cheeks*~ :

What about the next door neighbor she was getting water from? Did she mention to them she had and planned to have chickens and geese?

Lots of folks don't like to hear crowing.

They happen to have chickens (only pullets) and a female duck and we discussed my large flock over the fence quite a few times. I call that set of neighbors "The Carls" because both Senior and Junior - both of 'em adult men, one is the property owner's father - live there. Carl Jr., his wife Jessica and their kids live there. They're the ones who laughed when I told em my dominant rooster's name is Carl. "So, if we hear you yelling, Shut UP, Carl!!, you don't mean us, right!?"

Not them. The retired couple who live on the other side of my house, well, the head of that household is a straight-shootin' sun of a gun, who would have walked over to my house to tell me I needed to do something about my chickens "before" he took action. Not them, either.

Only five other homes on the road... One of which is directly opposite The Carls, and is the first house on the other side of the street. My two next door neighbors have each had some trouble or another with folks in that family. Plus, members of that family were friends and associates of the former owners of my property.

Umm, the ones that grew pot in the attic and on the back section of the house roof...

Can't imagine who else it could have been.
