Rhode Island Blue

I didnt have my good camera out, so these were taken on my phone... these pictures have a LOT to be desired! BUT, you will get an Idea of where they are going. These 2 ladies are hard to get a picture of because they are always under foot :) I just LOVE this mixed breed of chicken! They are calmer than the other pullets, not near as flighty... and they are the only ones in my younger flock that wont let the older girls push them around. I will DEFINITELY be raising more RIB's in the future!
The pics are a bit shaded because of the sun position this morning in relation to the run, but you get a really good idea of what their coloring will mature to!
Just so you know.... One of these girls has the copper splash along her neck, forehead, and breast, the other does not. She may still acquire that splash.... but as of the near future, I don't think she will. From what Ive seen online... they can have them or not. It really does add a bit of real beauty to these ladies! The contrast between the blue and copper is REALLY striking!

They really are beautiful!! I love their little grey blue fluffiness right now too! I think I'm really hoping to enjoy this cross.

I think you will. I know, Im really glad I got them! They weren't even my favorite at first... but now.... nothing can beat them. I handled them the least as babies... now, they are the friendliest.

I'm curious if you can give me some insight as to how quickly these start feathering in. I picked up my two on Thursday at just 2 days old. One of them (the one who is very blue) already has significant wing feathers coming in and tail feathers as of today. The other, who is black with some white on her wing, hasn't changed a bit that I can tell! I guess her wing feathers are probably coming in some, but they're black so it's hard to really tell. She's the calmer of the two and loves to sleep on us. I'm honestly most concerned one might end up being a roo 😩. I'm curious how easily sexed these are when hatched.

Well, I cant say they feathered out any quicker than any of the others. My chicks feathered pretty quickly as a whole because I have a plate. They were both the same shade, kinda dark, and I'm not sure how easily they are sexed after hatching. So, I'm not much help in any way... 🤔
I guess, you will have to watch for wattle and comb development. They both got their tail feathers rather quickly, in comparison with the rest of the group. But... keep me posted! I would like to know more about this cross!
