Rhode island red or red sex link?

You can see the glossy male feathering coming in on his back. I'm 99% sure it is a cockerel. He's huge because he is bred to be huge and fast growing. Red rangers are primarily meat birds, although they can be dual purpose as well.
Well I keep chickens because they are pets to me lol. I'll definitely build him his own coop with his own ladies because he is SO SWEET. He just sits in my lap and looks up at me like a kitten. My other rooster is the same. Now since I only have half an acre should I try to separate the coops as far away from each other as possible? Can they never roam around together? I only have my 2 silkie bantams in a giant 14 foot coop and run lol

I don't think you need to separate the coops at opposite ends of the property. They can be close together. If there are problems with the two roosters fighting, then put something something solid between the two coops so they can't see each other, like ply wood or old tin roofing.

The problems I see with them running together are that the roosters may fight, and the big rooster may try to mate with the silkie hen, which could hurt her. But you'll know more from observing their behavior, so make decisions based on that.

Thanks! He's such a sweetie and I'd hate to see him become dinner. I always told myself I'd only have one rooster, but when life hands you cockerel you make lemonade

He’ll need his own full-sized ladies. If you would like to have him roam with the silkie hen, make sure he doesn’t hurt her if he mates with her.

Big mistake, often causing aggression later on.
I already have a rooster, he's trained like a bird and even walks on a leash and goes to the store in a stroller. I grew up with hundreds of parrots as my grandma rescued them. He's about as aggressive as a shoe.

In some cases, yes. Not always though.
Hence the word "often", not always.

All are individuals, I hope it works out for you! :thumbsup

Consider, maybe he wasn't dumped.. but came because HE heard your rooster crowing?? Many a free range birds have showed up to join other flocks, including 1 hen from unknown neighbors to my own driveway.
