I've seenrhode island red roosters before, and all of them had normal feathers. But this little roo developed what looks like shiny, half silky, half normal feathers. He also has dark brown spots on his feet, and pointed feathers on his head. Do they sometimes develop those feathers? He's not just shiny on his back and tail. He's shiny all over. Head, back, tail, neck, even thigh and chest feathers. I'm not worried, I'm just merely curious why he looks like this.

All I see are normal feathers. You took pictures of a ragged flight feather and butt fluff
I know the flight feathers are normal. I was meaning all the shiny feathers he has on his head, neck, back, and tail. The pics don't show exactly what I'm meaning unfortunately XD. The paralleparallel barbs on the feathers (other then the flight feathers) don't stick together in a solid form like usual. Instead, they kinda fan out instead. So much so, that when looking at his saddle feathers (which he has) look more like tiny feather dusters.

Also, his feet have these dark brown spots on the front, but are more yellow on the back. Do Rhode island reds normally get that? Mine never have.

Doesn’t look like half Silkie. Most chickens have fluff around their but, it’s normal, it doesn’t mean they are half Silkie.
It's not just the butt, it's all over him. Only said the feathers look half silky. Not that he was half silky. Sorry if that wasn't clear in my question.

What's the differance??

So not a mutt? I honestly thought that Rhode island reds aren't supposed to have colorful feet.
She’s a good quality breed that is closer to SOP (standard of perfection) because of the dark, mahogany coloring. Most RIRs are hatchery quality with much lighter coloring. Yours are beautiful and rare these days.
