They are one of the red sexlink crosses that can be sexed at birth by color i have 25 pullets coming in March to replace my 2 year olds, they start to lay at 17 to 20 weeks old and lay 300 to 350 large or extra large brown eggs in their first year, i just collected 9 eggs today.

I bought 50 of them from Meyer hatchery as chicks, kept 10 for myself and sold the rest.

Oh, neat. I never thought of doing that. Hopefully we will be getting the chickens from our neighbor this weekend. They are giving us 14 but at some point we will need to replenish. Can you post a picture of your hens?

The ones I'm getting were looking a bit haggard but I've been going over almost every day with fermented organic feed, healthy scraps, colloidal silver for the water and activated charcoal in the feed. They are really starting to clean up. LOL

It's going to get brutal for us the next couple of days in regards to the weather. Are everyone's chickies ready for the big chill? I placed more bedding in the nesting boxes this morning so it will hopefully be comfy for the pullets to lay their eggs. I also placed more bedding in the bachelor pad where one of the silkie's like to sleep at night. They should be ok. Of course, I also have the sweater heater going in both coops. I'm a firm believer in doing as much as I can to keep everyone well. I know it's controversial but cold is cold!

I'm wondering if any of your chickens have had their feathers falling out when they are not molting. One of my BR's feathers are falling out, mostly the small fluffy ones around the top of her legs and around her vent. Now there is a bald spot on her neck where the feathers are gone, but the shafts are still there and there is no blood. She was hatched last April, and I'm wondering if it's bullying or something else. If she flaps around feathers fall out. Please help!

Sounds like she's going through a late partial molt, especially if there's pin feathers present. Have you checked for mites or lice? Some are microscopic but if you study the feather shafts you'll be able to see them moving.
Do you have an over eager rooster? If you have a roo and he's picked her as his favorite, she might be getting a lot of "attention"
Do you have a rodent problem? This time of year mice and rats have been known to pull feathers out of chickens to line their own nests with.
Is your hen showing signs of going broody? They'll pluck out their own feathers to line the nest they lay their eggs in.
If she's acting normal and the exposed skin isn't swollen or red, I would just observe her and her interaction with the flock. You can always add some probiotics to the water and some extra protein to help her out if it's a molt. Keep dust baths available and add some DE to it to help with mites. If there's a sex-crazed roo in the mix, you might want to separate them for a while.

I'm no expert but I hope this helps a little!
