Hello there! Glad you found us! :)
Do you have a pond/pool/body of water for your ducks?
My husband really wants some, but we didn't know what they required. I'm sure it may depend on the breed as well? I know nothing about ducks!! Lol

I have a stream on my property, but it's not necessary. In the winter they just get a small 5 gal cement mixing tray.
In the warmer months they are allowed to free range where they have access to the stream and a kiddie pool in the yard.

Saxonies are large ducks, almost as large as a Canada goose, but even then that cement tray is fine enough for them to have a bath in.

Where are you located?

We're down in Richmond. We were thinking of putting in one of those landscape ponds (I see them for sale on craigslist all the time). We would only want a few ducks... as we already have 22 chickens that roam the yard! Haha Thanks for the info.

If I have anymore questions, I know who to ask! Haha

I'm just going to toss this out there.. I'm looking to learn how to vent sex.

I've watched a few videos, but heck if I know what to look for.

If there's someone local that can teach me LMK, I'll buy you a Del's or something!

-Thanks!

Sooooo haven't been on in awhile. All my ladies are so big and doing great :-D my duckies (one Drake) are good too, now just waiting patiently(kinda) for eggs! We are new to this.. when did my fellow RI'nders start seeing eggs from their chicks and ducks? Just curious!

I think they are supposed to start around 6 months... we are expecting eggs starting late this month!!! A side note... anyone want a blue ameraucana roo? (Free) So sad that we're not allowed to keep him, but I can't start trying to place him when he starts crowing, because we don't want any trouble with our neighbors, who have been awesome so far. He is from a reputable breeder. I will post more info, and pictures, when I can get them. (On vacation right now) Thank you so much!

Tiger is almost 5 months old, a blue ameraucana from a reputable breeder. I have had him and his sisters from 2 days old. He isn't aggressive. He is a little cautious of humans, but if you don't try to pick him up, he is friendly. I would like to find a home for him where he will be happy.
