Ribh's D'Coopage

Good evening folks :frow

BLUE EGGS ARE A THING.

View attachment 2086551

I give away a lot of eggs.
For the most part the receivers are city sorts who barely know one end of a chicken from another so when we got our 1st blue eggs to give away I made sure everyone knew they were good to eat & not blue inside.
Nothing funny here.

Youngest is something of a Ditz so even though we had chickens when she was little it wasn't unexpected she would question a blue egg. Really. Sometimes she's just not all there.

My mother, however, is a farm girl. Her grandfather raised prize winning Australorps. The last thing I expected to hear out of her mouth was: The blue eggs, they're ok to eat? And, I take it they're not blue inside? 🙄
Mum. Mum. Mum.:gig

Now we've surmounted that little hurdle the eggs were much appreciated.
My mom got a dozen eggs from a friend... Then called me to ask if the blue eggs were edible :gig
Happy Birthday @rjohns39 :)
Thanks Shad, it's actually a few days away.

Whodat, I love the pond

Bob, glad you're feeling better :hugs

I am a horrid woman. Ha'penny is swearing @ me for not letting her go nest in the wild as she wants to. After a dreadful to~do for more than an hour she's settled in her usual nesting box. Aoife & Medh are saying dreadful things about me for insisting they stay in the run & Mhari I found on her side in a pile of feathers in the run ~ gave me a terrible fright & I said unmentionable things. I don't think they were her feathers but for a moment there I thought something terrible had happened. I have put them all back in the coop early ~ fed, watered & well exercised but I am exhausted so they can cool their heels & say whatever they like.
It's good for chickens to complain. I think it is a large portion of their personalities. Everything could be perfect. Beautiful weather. The best treats. And I can hear that Lilly muttering to herself about something. She did it for a couple hours yesterday. It makes them happy. :gig

They're rather extreme, aren't they. I let everyone out in the run [under supervision] & everyone complained like mad. I threw a barrow load of leaf litter in for their enjoyment & you'd've thought I'd hidden a bomb in there. Everyone thought the grass was greener on the wrong side of the fence. No matter they're responsible for the lack of grass in their run. Just when I'd reached the end of my tether with them, thinking what a bunch of ungrateful wretches I'd ended up with, they all lay down & burbled @ me contentedly. :barnie
