I can't do scary. Some lovely pictures there.Yes, they walk free from 6 or 7 am (depending on the light) till the roo herds them back into the coop at bedtime, which is around 5 pm. (We have genets.) Fortunately he is a lovely soul, very gentle (mostly--he is being a bit of a nuisance these days what with all the girls having to cope with babies and him being impatiently horny...)
The mamas are friendlier with me since they've hatched their chicks, because these are absolutely ravenous all the time and now they NEED me to provide food. But they still do a warning sound when I approach. I also think they worry that I might steal their chicks... which is true... I'd love a tamer chicken.
I got the originals from a lady who has stables during the lock down. They just walk entirely free there. Very clued up about predators, they are. Including humans.

They like the dogs' area when it's wet outside.

Hi Sue. What's on the cards for mischief making next?![]()
And you love every minute of it right???My chickens are all mad. Nutters the lot of them.
I let everybody into the run yesterday. Wrold & Mhari congregated @ the shut coop door begging to be let @ the nesting boxes.
All the big coop girls swarmed into the little coop to polish of the left over food even though there was still plenty in their feeder!
Mhari made a dash for the nesting box when I let Hepzibah in to lay & promptly got put back in jail. Beatha got trapped in there with her & Suyin got put back in jail because she didn't roost but slept in a nesting box ~ which is craziness because she roosted in the little coop & the rail is terrible. Wrold went back in the big coop & was roosting when I checked everyone last night.

Let's see... Lifting more than we should, wondering about without our cane, thinking about climbing a step stool when not allowed... She's a handful.Hi Sue. What's on the cards for mischief making next?![]()
