I actually got to spend time with them today & we had their dinner together. They hate when I don't sit with them while they pig. Ha'penny is one of the 3 I originally hand fed & though she is now a higher status girl she is very demanding of her right to be one of my special girls. Then my 2 little Wyandottes usually come for some special attention & Beatha hovers, never quite sure if it's ok or not because everyone else will give her a big heave~ho. Medh is in with Mhari to keep her company while she detoxes from being broody. I chucked some leaf litter in the pen as after the storms it's a bit slimy & it gets smelly quickly if I don't throw something in there.

This is the advantage of hand raising them! You never have the same connection if they are raised by a mama hen!

Oh, I didn't hand raise them! I have no idea how they spent their 1st few weeks. I got them as POLs & have had to work really hard with my flighty girls before they would have anything to do with me @ all.

Yep, about 4.30 pm. And yes, we've hit November already. It was a gorgeous day here & the 1st sultry one we've really had this spring. It is cooling off now with the sea breeze picking up & the sun going but the girls are still out & preening.

I've got a long line of Americans & Canadians wanting to come visit. I now have a spare bed so just let me know when...

I've just got a couple of green plastic garden chairs I can hoy in & out of the run. They wash down too.

That's probably what I should do...I'd have to put something over the bench to keep it clean...yes chickens are messy, but you didn't already know that!

I can believe that! Thank you, I will definitely let you know! I have a guest room also, if you ever want to come this direction! Sand & sagebrush isn't nearly as beautiful and exciting as your island though!

Thank you. I spend a lot of time & a lot of treats with my newbies & the Campines stay confined until I'm pretty certain they'll return home. The 1st time Aoife got out she took off, freaked out, & did a 50' circuit out over our hill amongst the tree tops. I thought I'd lost her for sure but she knew where home was! Given what they could do they actually stay pretty close to home.
