Ribh's D'Coopage

Mobility is definitely an issue ~ especially in the dark. :lau I've about given up on the man's back I think & am about to ring a tradie to finish off the run. That would solve my biggest problem. Do not disillusion me. Not tonight. ;)
What are you paying? Maybe I'll fly out and finish it for you.

Dusk. My broody Hepzibah is roosting in the little coop. I'm collecting feed tubs when Morrigu & Aoife both make a break for it & manage to slide under the bare gap @ the gate. I have horrible visions of Campines roosting up trees. Aoife is just circling the run but Morrigu is doing her mad woman impersonation. :barnieI manage to nab her when she hops in the hay bin & put her back where she belongs. Aoife does not want to be caught but suddenly realises it's getting a little dark for comfort but now the coop gate is closed & goes ballistic. I try squeezing the gate open for her & Morrigu shoots out. I crowd her against the little coop nab her & shove her in there. Everybody else has gone to roost so I open the gate right up & Aoife shoots in like lightening & straight up the stairs. I fish Morrigu out & put her back in the big coop to find Wrold is in a nesting box so nab her & put her in with Hepzibah. Morrigu stops screaming, gets in a nesting box, starts tossing bits around & making the oddest noises I've ever heard. I fished 2 eggs out of the hay bin & am pretty certain one of them was hers because that's her preferred laying place. I will be flabbergasted if that hen goes broody on me because she's completely & utterly feral! I was only gone one night & tonight was complete bedlam! It was like managing a lunatic asylum where the lunatics have got loose. :he I've left them to it. 🙄 If I can work up the energy I'll check again before I go to bed ~ but it could be so depressing I might just leave it all for the morning.
Oh my goodness, those crazy girls! I've been thinking about this, maybe you should let them sit for a week or so, I don't believe it will harm them. When Spazzy, my Salmon Faverolles went broody, she spent about that much time in a box, mostly because I was gone for several days. Anyway, I need to go back and look, but then I think she was only in broody jail for a day, maybe 2 & that took care of it! She hasn't gone broody again. I did take her off the nest to make sure she had some food and water. It will give you a break from banging your head against a wall & it will give them a chance to hopefully get it out of their system! Just an idea! 😊

If you lived closer I would come and do the fence for you.:hugs

Thanks chaps. :D The lads owe me for babysitting time so I may just lean a little harder. :lau Crab season is about to wind down so I may see some movement shortly. :fl I was just very tired & frustrated last night ~ especially as neither girl really wanted to be out alone in the big wild dark.🙄 Everybody is screaming to be let out this morning but I'd like to see some eggs in their proper places first!😅

I've tried this one. It makes no difference to my mad lot. The summer heat is like a trigger for Hepzibah. The bantams are just chronic but their eggs are so small & they lay so irregularly that's neither here nor there so far as egg production is concerned. I have no idea what set Lavender off. She's never done it before & she was moulting to boot. She seems to be over it now. The Campines are the ones who worry me. They are super good @ finding really weird hidden places to lay, sneaky about hoarding eggs, then suddenly disappear to sit. Luckily they don't do it often but when they do its' a full on circus!

Last night's sunset as I was driving through the port and stopped at traffic lights..

Well...I give up then...I have no other ideas...I should have known that you've already tried this! Hopefully when you can get your run finished and everyone is safely contained you will be less frustrated with everything! Honestly, I think it's a plot and those girls get together to see what they can do to make you hop this time...they are pretty smart...;) I hope you are better rested today and the girls cut you some slack! :hugs

Lovely escorts you have, even if they are breaking the rules.
It should be flattering. I take it that way. 😁
My gosh they love you. 🥰 You only rush to great and then complain to people you truly care for.
It's very funny really. They rush towards me super excited, then try to pretend they aren't interested in me @ all. I have to move slowly to make sure I'm not stepping on anyone as they escort me towards the pen. They do know where we're going. Then they wait while I open it up even though every single one of them has hopped over to get out in the first place! :lau They then line up to take the small jump to get back in & all my good girls wander up expectantly. Aoife & Alpia often come & join me @ the feed bin. Aoife has always been a very brave confident chook. Alpia just knows she is special & gets certain privileges! :D They get quite demanding if I've been absent & they think I haven't been spending enough time with them!
