They will get there! You've been pretty busy with your beautiful grandbabies...and they are the most important! They are still very skittish around me but I need to spend more time.

Would you mind sharing the recipe for your favorite version! There are different versions of this. I have never tried the baked version...
I know how loud just one cricket can be, I can hardly imagine what a cacophony of sound...I'm sure it's not flock of Cicada's, but we'll go with that...would make!I found this on the path tonight. Photo sent to the lad because he was complaining about how much noise they make.

If the juniors in Tribe 2 go in too early they get bombed out again.
Tack is always last but at least she doesn't head for a tree now. She knows she's going to get a place on the roost bar.
They certainly have their pecking order all worked out!During the heat of the day my littlies tend to hide in the coop. I don't think it's any cooler in there but they seem to prefer it.
Once the breeze picks up in the afternoon they emerge to eat & enjoy the cool until it's bedtime.
Like most young 'uns they aren't keen on going to bed. Even from inside the house I know when the bedtime routine is starting. They get very loud with peeps & squeaks & honks & trills & whistles as the smallest make the 1st suggestive move by roosting on the ramp & making it's bedtime now noises but no~one will enter the coop until Regan leads the way.
Tonight I was getting worried as it was nearly full dark before Regan made her move & there were lots of agitated peeps emanating from Ceres & Olivia. All the smallest, who are a good 1/3 of the bigger girls size, were waiting expectantly @ the bottom of the ramp & were hot on Regan's heels as soon as she made her jump up onto the top of the ramp. Portia followed her, then Ceres & Olivia. Desdemona jumped up & pushed past Titania & Gloriana brought up the rear. I swear she was counting heads to make sure everyone was up safely then promptly barrelled Titania, who was lingering in the doorway, unceremoniously into the coop. I fiddled for a bit as we have big storms about to drench us in rain again & I wanted to make sure my tarp was securely in place.
I also needed to check on my bigger girls as Beatha had been in no hurry to roost either & was a good 20 minutes or more later than even Aoeifa but she was up securely with everyone else.

Thank you so much! I have this and the other that you just shared book marked so that I can come back and save them! You want between 1/2 cup - a cup of milk in a frypan or wide saucepan because you have to flip your island.
Separate your egg/s.
You can add a tiny bit of sugar to the whites if you like then whisk them till nice & stiff.
Heat your milk.
Pour your whites into the hot milk & cook till soft meringue forms. I usually flip the meringue to make sure it's cooked all the way through.
Remove your island .
Mix the yolks with 2 teas of sugar, 2 teas of cornflour & 1 teas of vanilla till it forms a smooth paste. Pour into hot milk stirring constantly until it thickens.
Pour the custard around your meringue island ~ it should float on top of the custard & top with fruit, cream or cracked toffee with a little caramel sauce.
Laugh away @BY Bob!
I just pulled 3 eggs from under Hepzibah & she pancaked, fluffed up & swore @ me!
She's been my worst broody to date but was being extremely well behaved this summer until this morning. She's older so knows how this goes & I may be lucky...
