Cillin, senior rooster in Tribe 1 has has a number of small peck wounds on his comb recently. He hasn't been fighting with Treacle from what I've seen, or with any of the other roosters.
I was watching Tribe 1 this morning when Cilling wandered over to Hurry and made a rather gentle neck grab intent on mating with her. Hurry did a fast turn, leapt into the air, a good foot off the ground, both feet flailing and landed a peck on Cillins comb.
Cillin, just backed away and that was the end of it. I saw him try again this evening with the same result. I know why his comb has these little peck wounds now.
I thin Hurry is getting ready to lay. If so she's got a very bad case of hen PMT.

Oh my goodness! Not sure who to feel sorriest for...Cillian for getting such short shift or Hurry for being harassed when she's PMTish.

It is not easy to be a rooster. Toughest job in the animal kingdom. Poor guy.

Just so darling! I miss the little peeps.

I sat with them after I fed them yesterday. Our weather means I don't really have a routine up & going with them yet but they gathered @ the wire while I talked to them & were calm & curious rather than totally freaked out by my presence.

Meanwhile My big girls have been running rampant all through my yard & totally freaked the man out. He was working & suddenly found himself surrounded & being given a lot of unwanted advice. I think he was rather chuffed that they chose to come & spend some time with him.
