One of my Wyandottes is big and heavy and the other is on the small side. Mine are all hatchery stock, though.I thought Wyandottes were supposed to be dual purpose birds...?Shouldn't they be a bigger, heavier bird? Yep, there it is; the hens should weigh 6~7lbs. My standards look like making that easily...
I have noticed mine tend to grow (very slowly) until well over a year. However, my first two batches (oldest girls) were too fat, which might confuse things.Sansa is well over a year old. I think she's done.
Haha! I love this! Sorry, Treacle.Treacle is finding out that being the boss isn't quite as straightforward as he thought. He's gone escorting and Cillin was in with the hens as soon as he could hear Treacle was elsewhere.

Is this Hepzibah? Is someone plucking her lower back feathers?I am down one broody. Wrold is broken.
Hepzibah is pathetic.
She stands @ the coop door bokking away & huddles against the wire as close to her flock mates as possible but every chance she gets she heads straight for a nesting box!
She's not the aggressive broody Wrold is so rather than chance losing her @ roosting time I popped her in the small coop with the Littlies. Hepzibah stood @ the end closest to her tribe bokking mournfully; the Littlies huddled @ the other end. There were no issues @ all so I left them too it.
When I heard the Littlies peeping their roosting calls I went out to check on things.
Hepzibah had already gone to roost & the Littlies were lined up along their ladder behind Regan all ready to proceed in an orderly fashion to bed. I had my fingers crossed. There is always the chance you'll get lucky & Hepzibah already had her place on the roost.
Perish the thought. As soon as Regan stepped into the coop Hepzibah went her.
The Littlies fled. *sigh*
I opened the side door & nabbed Hepzibah & we sat & watched the Littlies troop happily up the ladder & to bed but when Hepzibah tried the same thing she found the pop door was down. She knew that was the opening. She could see the gap I had left for ventilation but get in she could not.
.
She should be over it but like most of my broodies she is stubborn & persistent

Aawwww...Something went wrong with the line-up.
Never have the two road-runner Princesses been separated. And only recently have they sometimes been in the middle of the row, but still together.
Tonight Dotty found herself sandwiched between Diana and Elizabeth. And after some anxious looking around seemed to settle in leaving Minnie out in her own.
Minnie was puzzled and studied the situation for a long time.

She even got down from the roost and got a snack but nothing had changed when she returned.
She contemplated flying up to their old baby roosting spot on the top of the window ....

.... But the window is closed.
She even tried going over or under Elizabeth ....

.... But that really didn’t work out so well.
Eventually she settled down in her allotted place and looked out of the window at the falling snow.

Oh my gosh, Alice? Isn’t she the one entered in last year’s molting contest? And she’s at it again already?I have seen grey feathers around for a few days.
Alice is having a ninja moult.
