The water is ankle deep in some places in my back yard. Luckily we are on a bit of a slope so there are less lake-like portions for the chooks to shelter in.

Even the Breakfast Bar is flooded!

I was confused by your comment and then I looked at the photo again.
The wood you can see in the foreground is actually the back of the garden seat attached to the pergola. It's what they usually perch on when they are watching me through the window.

If it helps at all, I'm always impressed with your flock observations. They always inform and get me to look at my flock from a slightly different perspective.

Me too - I learned to observe roosting shenanigans mainly from @Ribh's observations. Mine are different but I learned a lot.
