That is the same way we feed our chickens...it makes life so much easier and there is very little food wasted with this type of feeder! Mine aren't quite as pretty as yours though! Some time ago I ordered new feeders. The old feeder is a treadle feeder & it worked just fine when all I had was 5 chooks. It no longer works fine & I have been putting down extra feeding tubs to accommodate everyone. Unfortunately all my little ones can get in both the treadle & the tubs & poop over everything so I have been looking for an alternative ~ & healthier option! This is what I have opted for. I got 5~ 4 for feed, 1 for grit.View attachment 2629343
This leaves me with extra run space.
Yes, the feeders are @ different heights to accommodate my bantams as well as my standards. I always leave food available as well as doing a feed time. The feed time will now go & hopefully the tribes will stagger themselves so everyone gets a fair go @ the feeders.

We are dealing with Eurasian Ringneck Doves, they are taking over and driving off our Mourning Doves! Make's me really sad!I was already grumpy at sparrows because they ousted the Eastern bluebirds from the bluebird nest box.
I feel better now because bluebirds have used the other box and seem more prevalent. The boxes were part of a scheme to try and get the Eastern Bluebird to rebuild its population in NJ and it has worked and they are no longer endangered.
Wow. They looked like they turned out really well!Remembering Anzac Day with all of my friends from down under!I made the Anzac Biscuits from @Ribh's recipe and thought it only fitting that I enjoy them with a cup of tea in my Lavender cup!

Those are huge!!! Ours are much shorter but I found 4 took most of a bag of feed. I think I have a couple of little piggies. Desdemona is getting quite rotund. I can always lock them away from the feed. The only drawback so far is I don't have food as a bribe to get them back in the coop in the afternoons. That is the same we feed our chickens...it makes life so much easier and there is very little food wasted with this type of feeder! Those 4 hold a 50# bag of feed. I have one more inside the pen, eventually it will be used for the mini coop! Those are huge!!! Ours are much shorter but I found 4 took most of a bag of feed. Yes, bribery is important! Those are huge!!! Ours are much shorter but I found 4 took most of a bag of feed. I think I have a couple of little piggies. Desdemona is getting quite rotund. I've been using bread...My older girls will kill for grainy bread. The Vorwerks are skittish, the bantams terrified of being trampled, & Morrigu is so feral it takes ages to coax her into the pen. Meanwhile I have to try & prevent everyone else from escaping.Yes, bribery is important! You just need to find a favorite snack that they will only get when you need them in their pen!
Yes, welcome to Ribh's circus!I've been using bread...My older girls will kill for grainy bread. The Vorwerks are skittish, the bantams terrified of being trampled, & Morrigu is so feral it takes ages to coax her into the pen. Meanwhile I have to try & prevent everyone else from escaping.
