Isn’t that obvious?
The research of course didn’t address why, and was more focused on showing that a cat brain (like a human brain) will infer a square where none exist. We effectively draw the missing sides of the square in our minds eye when we see the corners. There is a word for that but I forget what it is.
The paper did speculate that because cats are both predator and prey animals that they are attracted to enclosed spaces in which they can hide and from which they can pounce.
That makes sense to me, but doesn’t explain their complete obsession with squeezing themselves into tiny boxes, bags, shoes, saucepans etc. (to name just a few of the items my own cats try to settle into).

I am sure I have said this before, but I love your set up and am not surprised they would want to spend time in th run area - it has so much to interest them.

Thanks, RC. I created the man a headache by refusing to take anything out to make the run so he's had to build around everything but we are nearly @ the point where we can enclose it so the girls have more room on those days we're not around.

Such a peaceful video, thank you for sharing Ribh.
I think I'm having trouble putting things to scale. The standard girls look as big as turkeys compared to the bantams to my eye.

Many of my standards are dual purpose girls so they are large girls, the Campines excepted & they aren't much bigger than the larger bantams so no, I don't think there's anything wrong with your eyesight or perception; the bantams are tiny & some of the standards are HUGE.

I just love these videos where I can watch them be as they are. Just doing chickeny stuff. I just love it. Thank you for sharing. Such a diverse, interesting, colorful, amazing tribe you have.

They make me happy. And the boys will often sit & watch them too ~ though they always look rather stunned by these miniature dinosaurs scuttling around.
