Not that bad, Marie. @ least 1/3 of my 18 girls are broody so it's really only about 3 or 4 hens being a nuisance. The Vorwerks are sorted & I reckon Aoife will be too happy to be let out to cause any more problems.

Sif has decided she likes being a house chicken. Any time the door opens, she scoots in.
You can see her toes are starting to straighten out again. Not all the time but enough she can hobble round.

I do too but I'm not sure you would have loved what was emanating from her this morning. I've never heard man or beast make a sound like it. It started as a sort of crow ~ like cockerels make when they first start, only higher, & then it sort of began to trill only the trill sounded like she was choking. And gosh! She was loud!!! It was such a terrifying sound I looked for a predator in the yard.

I'm always fishing the bantams out of crab pots but the bigger girls generally steer clear.

I let the Vorwerks out this morning after a stern lecture on what would happen to them if they misbehaved! It's been 31C & really muggy for most of the day; no time to be in a cage. They've been really well behaved. Pity the same can't be said for Aoife. Apart from the Campines everybody is panting & holding their wings away from their bodies. The girls do have a breeze so it could be worse but it is definitely stinking hot outside.

The tribes were generally okay at up to 35C. Above that and I saw them holding their wings away from their bodies to increase the airflow. I'm a bit surprised your lot find 31C so hot.
