Ribh's D'Coopage

I've never seen one in person, but Wiki tells me they are about the size of a cat.

The ones I've seen in the wild are bigger than a domestic cat. Very pretty but I wouldn't want to tangle with one ~ & perfectly capable of taking out a chicken.

Is this normal? Today I saw Lilly (light Brahma) rip all of these feathers (at once) out of Daffodil (little flower EE) :barnie... I mean that’s A LOT of feathers in one pull!! And just when things seem to be settling down... they were out in the yard with PLENTY of space.. so really no apparent reason except to be vicious ... I had noticed last week that their (the flowers) tail feathers are missing so I was wondering who did that too.. I may have a suspicion... View attachment 1871334

Just wanted to say I feel sad for little Daffodil. I think it must've hurt to lose all those feathers in one go. I know how attached we can get to our chickens, they're very endearing and I'm very attached to my three. It makes us observant and when things go wrong, worried. So, I understand your feelings. I hope it all clears up soon.

Good morning everyone! Friday morning, another full day at the office for me (cooped up chooks) but I've got a four day stretech of weekend and working at home, so they can spend lots of time in the yard :) Mary has laid six eggs since she got going again, so that's good! But she skipped yesterday. Her record is 7 in a row.
What's the news from everyone else's coop?

With everyone laying I am sometimes getting 10 eggs a day, waay more than I can use. Giving lots away. I have a few fights happening as the pecking order shifts. The Campines seem to be in everyone's bad books & Pebbles was so upset with her to~do yesterday [which she won!] she had to come & tell me all about it even though I was right there & saw the whole thing!:gigJohn is still shocked @ how low down the pecking order the Campines are because he says they look like Game birds ~ but in reality they are very timid & very picked on. Lavender is asserting herself too & she has sooo much fluff going on she is really intimidating when she tries.

Australorps are great layers! I miss their nice big eggs.
:( She should lay really well now until her next molt.
