Good luck!A Hello! Popping in and trying to catch up. Also wanted to share that my two broodies are still at it. Millie is in her fourth week! I think she might have given it up if Flo hadn’t gone broody.
Flo acts like a total nutter and MUST be in the same tiny nest box as Millie, no matter how hot it is. Some days I fear she’ll almost suffocate Millie. Flo also seems to be losing condition. So as much as I HATE doing this, I am breaking her broodiness for both her sake and Millie’s. Poor thing. It really hurts my feelings for her, but I’ll be taking two separate four day weekends away in August and don’t want to risk a death by broodiness.
I am hoping Millie will also stop once Flo does, but she seems to still be eating ok. I did move her up to a roost after dark tonight. What is the longest anyone has hen sit?
Wish us luck!

That's wonderful. Maybe there is still hope for me and Sydney. Or Betty. I don't expect there is any hope for me and Aurora.Having decided I'm not the ogre from hell, I am getting a lot of firsts from Beatha.
It is so special when a hen finally decides to trust you.
So, as I was rounding the girls up tonight because it is wet & freezing cold, Beatha was doing her in, out, in out thing when all of a sudden she squatted @ my feet. I was so shocked I nearly stepped on her but managed to bend down & give her a good rub~a~dub~dub. She waited patiently & really seemed to enjoy it. As she's one hen I've never really been able to handle this is huge for her & me. Even Ha'penny is easier to handle than Beatha has ever been. Not sure what's brought about this massive change of heart.
