They look okay Ribh. Do you think they'll use them?

I suspect Ha'penny, Beatha & Portia won't but most of the bantams will. Not sure about everyone else. I suspect Luna has finished laying but it is still to early to be sure.

It's strange isn't it. One might have thought that once they had all seen one trust you then they would follow suit. It doesn't seem to work like that.

No, it doesn't. Olivia has always been a people person, as are the black Japs. The whites are more skittish & while the bigger hens are chatters they're not keen on being handled. I have no idea why Beatha has suddenly changed her mind about me. She began by being extra chatty around me, then following me round chatting & now she is squatting & jumping up on me. I am doing nothing different.

They all surprised me.
Beatha was first hen in ~ but she was ready to lay & outside is wet & cold.
The Vorwerk knew what they were for & checked them out. Some of them have been laying in the carrier but others have been using this corner of the shed which is why I put boxes there.

All the bantams have tried them on for size...
Desdemona was also ready to lay.

But even Ha'penny tried it on for size. As she laid yesterday I'm not expecting her to lay again today. I must say, they all seemed really happy to see proper nesting boxes in their shed. I feel bad for waiting so long but priorities, priorities...
I need to eat & dress before I do extras for the girls ~ & as most were off the lay it wasn't a huge issue. Now everyone is coming back on the lay again I needed to do something ~ especially if we are going to try for chicks when the girls go broody this summer.​

I really like these nest boxes. I might try and get some similar ones.

You should have heard the noise, MJ! Shuri, who normally peeps, was honking away just like Portia. Everyone was talking a hundred to the dozen & a Vorwerk was laying when I opened up this morning.
