Ribh's D'Coopage

Our end of the state is dealing with devastating fires & our fire season hasn't begun yet. For the first time ever our island has put out an emergency contingency plan ~ not that I think it will be very useful in the event of... :( We learnt last year that once the main road gets cut no~one is going anywhere! At least the wind seems to have dropped out.

I always worry about the animals in the event of an emergency. We have 10 chooks & 2 cats we'd have to get out. I really need to invest in a decent sized dog crate.

The girls are loving the warmer weather @ present. Up early & lots going on. Plenty of other birds in & about our yard because we have water! So dry every where.

What will you do if the worst happens? Is there a boat you can put them all on and then head out?
Two options I think: The first is to get everyone onto the point which has a small bare area ~ slightly larger @ low tide. I wouldn't want to have to do it. The 2nd is get the lad to take us off in his boat ~ but that could be dodgy with the tides & timing. We've only ever had one fire go through our place & it stayed low in the ferns & moved fairly slowly. I'd hate for anything to actually get in the tree tops!

Hope you are doing ok with the bush fires Ribh. :hugsJust the smoke can make one feel on edge.:(

I'm wishing hard for rain up there! :fl
Thanks ACM! We're getting some haze but no smoke. Sadly Binna Burra went today. The lodge was heritage listed & it is gorgeous rainforest area with several species of bower birds. Sad. :(
