Ribh's D'Coopage

I bet they loved it. Mine sometimes stay out in the rain and get soaked. It can be a nice cool down for them. Daisy, the greatest hen ever, used to look so pathetic when wet.
I don't know that they loved it, Bob. :) Rain is one thing but according to John it was a pretty wild storm that came in from the N'west & circled round west, south then east & the girls took an absolute pounding. They usually shelter in the sandpit under the coop but there is no shelter if it comes horizontally from the east as we don't get storms from that direction. Even those rare cyclones tend to be more N'east. The yard's a mess of fallen twigs & branches. Ah, well. They're out early today to make up for yesterday. Though John kept an eye on them for me yesterday he's not physically capable of wrangling chooks so they had a pen day. :D

Is it proper to call a lady "meaty"? I feel like that would get me slapped but want to be sure.
Well, Bob, I wouldn't call me or your Best Beloved *meaty* but I don't think the girls mind having a little extra weight to throw around. :gig

@Ribh It's here!!! Thank you so much!! I've just started to read again, I find it's easier to do books then my phone, so it will be used often. I can also say I have never received a Christmas card with a Kangaroo on it. That will be a keeper for sure.

Rich decided to also give me an early Christmas present. He said he saw this and knew I had to have it!!

It has chooks on it!!! I was so excited when I saw it. He even got the matching wallet to go with it. This is extra special because we don't exchange gifts with each other, it's all for the kids. He said he knew it would cheer me up and boy did it ever!!

:D I thought about doing this ages ago [anything overseas from here has to go out early to arrive in time for Christmas] but I wanted a little inexpensive something to pop in as a surprise but do you think I could work out this pattern? :lau Then I had to wait till the people on Etsy started the Christmas things. A girl on the Gold Coast does these lovely handmade cards & I knew as soon as I saw them I wanted them for my overseas friends because...just how often do you get a Christmas card with a kangaroo on it! :gig

Rick's gift is adorable!:love

Does this go on all summer for you? Broody broody broody. Yikes.
Pretty much. I got almost no eggs last summer because everyone went broody on me. It was one reason I got the extra girls & different breeds. None of the newer girls seem to be prone to broodiness ~ for which I am heartily grateful!

I have to laugh reading about the broody problems. It can be difficult to explain to people just what an absolute nightmare it can be. I love it when they stop laying eggs. I don't have to nest hunt. I don't have to do evictions and most of all, I don't have to deal with the bad language.
This is about the only time I've found the usual description of BRs as being *people friendly* accurate. They're normally quite skittish & adverse to being handled, but ok about being round me & hand fed. Broody they become incredibly docile, rarely peck [if they do it's gently] & I can handle them easily. The hardest part with Soda is wrangling her weight one handed out of a nesting box!:lau

They are coming way too fast for me... But I'm about done with my Friday and Sue should be home any minute. :D
I find the years are passing like a whirlwind. :D I'm not a big fan of what the holidays have become. If I can veg quietly out of the way of the majority insanity we're all good.
