Ribh's D'Coopage

I'm just catching up. I'm so sorry I wasn't around earlier. We will keep you both in our prayers.

Does she like scrambled eggs? Sometimes they will eat those even when they aren't feeling well. Frozen blueberries will work with mine to help cool them down as well if you want to try and chill her from the inside.

Don't blame yourself. Chickens are great at hiding when they are sick, many times until it is too late. We all can be and are surprised. Do the best you can for her, keep your head, and don't give up on her. You just never know.

Thanks for the encouragement, @BY Bob. I tried scrambled egg this morning. She only took a mouthful. Marlow cleaned up the rest. I'm going to try salmon this evening. She has been drinking & is far more alert this afternoon now it's cooling off. Poos still mostly water ~ but that's not surprising given water is pretty much all she's had for 24 hours!

We will keep fighting for her.

How are you and Tuppence doing this morning @Ribh ?
She's still with us thanks, Shad. A little colour in her face. Comb still shrunken. Not eating but had lots of water throughout the day. Poops still very watery but with some solid matter ~ she pooped lots once I got some water into her this morning. John went across to the mainland to get some Amprolium. I've managed to get some of that into her. She's not real keen... :( She seems to be doing better... She's roosting where I had her this morning @ present but will go into the bathroom once my lads are home & done as it has a door. The cats are ignoring her @ present but I don't want any late night kerfuffles.

Good evening folks :frow

Jeannie, I'm so sorry you're going through this. My go to's for sick birds are eggs and fish (oily fish like salmon). The eggs provide the perfect balance of amino acids that chickens need for digestion and the fish is packed with protein and vitamins as well as omega 3s and 6s. :hugs :hugs

It really could just be the heat as well. I hope just cooling her down may help. You can also try ice water and frozen corn to lower her internal temperature as well.

One last snowy sunrise. The temp is supposed to reach 50°F (10°C) today.
