Ribh's D'Coopage

Is there anything I might be able to help you with by way of explanation etc?
Most vets, even those that deal with birds, unless they are exceptionally good are only going to pick up the obvious through fecal exams and bird inspection.
A lot of this you can do.
If it's an internal reproductive problem then not many vets are equipped or prepared to do anything.
If her poop is bright green or bright yellow it's often an organ failure or reproductive system problems. Wet poop with bits in can be heat, it can also be worms.
Thank you sooo much Shad. :hugs You've no idea how much that offer means to me. I've just wormed but her poop is pretty liquid with bits in. She laid yesterday so I don't think she's egg bound. She hasn't pooped since I brought her inside where I can keep an eye on her & the others can't pick on her. She has taken water every time I've offered it.

I know you don't like fish and maybe not even meat but do you have any?
Will she eat it? Both meat and fish have all the essential nutrients and other benefits compared to commercially produced chicken feed. If she will eat either of these I would prefer to give a sick chicken these than standard feed. Eggs are good if she'll eat them of course, they too have a complete protein.

Thinking of you.
She's still with us & quite a bit perkier, thanks MJ. Sugar water, yoghurt & a bit of scrambled egg have made their way into her. John has gone to the mainland for some Amprolium. Her poo is still heaps watery but with some solid normal looking stuff as well. Feeling more hopeful than I was this morning though she's not moving round @ all. Awake more though & interested in the Big Coop.

How's Janet?

Yes, I sometimes give salmon as a treat. I will get a small tin when I go to the shops & see if she's interested. She's not eaten much in the last 24 hours.

Sounds good. I hope amprolium is the right treatment :fl

Dr Hill's book was full today, but he said he'd take a look at her between appointments. So I dropped her off an hour ago, with a note explaining her symptoms. He'll call once he's looked at her. I'll pick her up later.

Typically excellent professionalism from him, seeing her even though he's booked solid.
