That is so kind of you MJ!Altheit won't help you much in today's crisis, I'll try to get some electrolytes for you and I'll send them in the post
Aaww, poor babyNo electrolytes. I haven't been able to buy them. I've tried a number of times so as to have them on hand. She is drinking a little sugared water. She had a mouthful of scrambled egg. I'm not very good at this part of chicken keeping. I so wish there was an experienced keeper round here whom I could go to for advice but the chicken keepers I know are of the *it's only a chicken* variety.View attachment 1998348
Oh, MJ!!! This awful heat! I'm sure it makes things worse!Janet's also sick this morning - lethargic, pain posture, not eating. I presume it's coccidiosis from digging in the wet ground yesterday. I'll be taking her to the vet - it's so easy for me to do so and I wish you had the same options.
She'll pull through. She's a sturdy hen. But i need to get the medication into her.Oh, MJ!!! This awful heat! I'm sure it makes things worse!Hoping the best for Janet!

Is there anything I might be able to help you with by way of explanation etc?No. Her crop is almost empty. She's pretty fluffed out.
She has ~ but improving in some ways, obviously struggling in others. I'll have to move her into the bathroom where it's cooler I think. The heat is really building again & it won't help.I had a feeling it was Tuppence. So sorry Ribh. I'm glad she's taken some scrambled egg and sugar water. I wonder what ails her. Really hoping she pulls through. She's been slightly off her stride for a while.
I keep Coccivex on hand here. Coccidia crops up here from time to time. She'll pull through. She's a sturdy hen. But i need to get the medication into her.
Yes. Coccivex is just the product name of the amprolium mixture we get here.Is that the same as amprolium? Last time I had one down with coccidiosis the vet gave us amprolium.
