I love being round when they go to roost.Mostly they make such gentle, happy sounds & generally there's not much squabbling. Everyone just picks a spot & hops up then they sort of coo @ each other.

I've got to admit, I'm getting too old for this crisis stuff. I was out with the chain saw until 4am last night with a few of the others who live on this side of the mountain. We did with the help of two Bobcats get the track down cleared of trees and debris. I'm too tired to sleep now.
Me too. It is my favorite time. Quiet contented chuckles. And they look so cozy all puffed up in their down and feather PJs. While I am standing outside like an idiot freezing my toes and fingers off. Which is why I need to learn from @BY Bob and get cameras. Oh, I need sound too. Hmmm.
And now for a chicken of a different sort.View attachment 2009204

I wish my young 'uns would learn to be peaceful.
Alice has started to roost in the new coop again, but for some reason starts off in the nesting box. Edwina and Pepper then wait perched on the branches of the dead Grevillea until it is almost full dark then sneak up the ramp and hop onto the perches. This is Alice's signal to jump up between them and then the fun begins!
Squabble, squabble, squabble, thump, flap, jump, squabble squabble squabble. And so it continues .
Eventually they settle down, but it's not the most relaxing way to go to bed!
The old girls have already settled....
