Ribh's D'Coopage

Our weather is finally sorta doing Autumn. Colder, wetter, windy~er. None of the new girls wanted to come out of the coop pen yesterday. Every time I checked most of the girls were hunkered down in the sheltered corner half buried in mulch & leaf litter. Meanwhile all the layers, including my threadbare Namaste, were standing in the full blast of the wind.

Many years ago, I ran a command center and it was really important to know what time of day it when you're calling someone. Years later I had to write a call center application and I included time zone and alerts.

I remember one night, I was on what we called baby sitter duty. It's the rare event when everyone is off and someone has to be there just in case. So I get a call from our three star at about 1:00 am. A. I'm not really awake, B. he's asking about a missile that's not in my inventory, and C. I'm just a tad cranky. My response was slightly unprofessional... "General I'll have to call you back, you've got me looking for ghosts and I need coffee and time to research."

It took me three hours to piece together the story and I had to wake up at least 10 people to aid in the research. But in the end I got a letter of accommodation out of it.

I was late going out to my girls this morning. It is overcast & showery & it was pitch black @ 6 o'clock. Now the new girls have explored the other pen everyone seems more than happy to stay in the big one & let the layers go for it in the other. :)

Ooooohhh, the Awesome Aussie Accent!!!! The triple A ;)

Day two of integration: It pretty much went about the same as yesterday.. maybe even a little more chasing today though...by my “sweet” Claire and “fair” Ruby ... and mean ole Kathryn was doing great! Until she decided to attack :tongue... but really, it’s going pretty good! Still separating them at night and when I won’t be around to monitor.... this Sunday we are putting up the yard fence so with ALL that extra space I expect things to go very well! And by then I will just go ahead and let them be... chickens
