Ribh's D'Coopage

At least Tsuki is happy. ;)

Don't assume my integration is going perfectly. Roosting time is tough right now. They have only spent 2 nights together and there has been a lot of pecking. It is not going to go quickly I'm afraid.
Yes she is :rolleyes::lol:

I don’t know if she is shoving everyone off, the others prefer the floor or they all want their own space. I just know that I am envious of Ribh and her proper roosting chickens! 😜

@Aussie-Chookmum: Alice is your Araucana, right? Which of your other ladies is she getting along with best & how do you find her personality wise?

Both my Araucanas seem to be particularly observant. They figured out the new routine first & are confident without being pushy. I like 'em but not sure yet how good a fit they will be with the rest of the flock. They don't particularly hang together nor with anyone else either which seems a little odd for a chook.
Yep, Alice the Araucana.

She seems pretty socially adaptable. She and Edwina have been brought up together and initially they hung around together. Since Pepper adopted Edwina though, she has been at a bit of a loose end. She started off roosting alone in the rabbit hutch and then moved in with the old girls at night. She now tends to hang around Tsuki when foraging.

She is much the calmest of my girls and the easiest to catch. She puts up less of a fuss when carried and seems the most curious with Tsuki being a close second. She’s pretty confident too.

A new friend for Tsuki. That's sweet.

Well, I just learned I need to find a new gas station... The one I regularly use will be out of commission for quite some time. Same with Lowes and Home Depot (both are an hour away). So I'm gonna either go quite a bit further or find a different source.
That's rough. Unfortunately the damage these disasters inflict takes ages [sometimes years] to rectify.

After hearing about everyone's integration successes I thought that it was high time that my girls started acting like one flock.

Alice had transferred her sleeping quarters to the small coop with the old girls successfully a few weeks ago and is hanging around with Tsuki more often than with her nest mate Edwina.

For the last few days I have been transferring hens from the small coop to the large coop after roosting time and haven't heard too much commotion.

I have been happily imagining Edwina and Pepper occupying the back roost with Tsuki, Deana and Alice on the front roost.

Well, I went out to check a little while ago and this is their current sleeping arrangement.

Nestbox dossers.
Lock had been doing that until recently.

Good evening folks :frow

We had a relatively good day. They've closed the schools for the rest of the week, so Sue's home.

Unfortunately, the death toll is likely going to continue to rise as they sift through the rubble trying to account for everyone.
What have been the main causes of the deaths?
