My two once sat squeezed into the one nest, but they both produced an egg. Weird. There are three nests for two birds, no need for doubling up.

But they do anyway. I now have 4 nests for 12 birds but they are only interested in the southernmost one. Could be interesting in a few more months.

I've prepared the little coop with food and water. Mary and Janet are offended that it's now out of bounds is pretty much how they're feeling, never mind they still have the whole run and big coop to play in.

Of course I got a smudge of fresh poop on my clean shorts while I was out there

They are sooo funny. No matter how many food & water stations I put out the big girls act as if I'm trying to starve them of every skerrick of food & water & rush round madly laying claim to the lot though none of them can eat or drink out of more than one container @ a time!Mad as hatters.

When I had the rescue girls in the barn while I was finishing their tractor I put in a wry large dog crate, and a small cat carrier for them as well. Three large chickens all crammed into one small cat carrier... every night. I took to calling it the “clown car”

New Chickies are doing great! Straight rain and overcast conditions here though, so I haven’t been working as much outside, and I’m having to top up my batteries with the generator. I wired the RV up to jumper cables and have two separate solar banks I’m charging through it when we run it. They are growing very quickly compared to my layer chicks.

Yesterday I made a lid for the brooder, and husband came back from the new job... it went well. I’ve got two goose eggs in the incubator and plan on candling them in a few more days to see where they are at. A neighbors nest was disturbed and robbed by a coon, but two eggs and the geese survived, though the geese abandoned it.

I just realized I’m still missing updates on this thread and have to check it manually... all caught up now, but sorry I missed out on so much!

Well, we miss you when you don't check in but I was more concerned you were inundated with stuff & I knew Andrew was starting the new job. lol Life gets in the way & it's more Are YOU doing ok?

I’ll admit, it was pretty hairy trying to do everything myself. Mostly because we’re cutting the cows back a bit on hay, and I don’t use the tractor alone, so I was manhandling haybales in a barn ambushed by the cows and it gets crowded fast. They get a little pushy this time of year. Just a few more days until I move them to decent pastures, the one thing the weather has been good for is the grass.
