Ribh's D'Coopage

Well, I've gotten my first broody chicken. DW got bit pretty good going after an egg today. Didn't know the chicken was there until the first peck. This girl dug a tunnel under a piece of plywood and was hiding in there when DW got the turkeys to get off the eggs. She reached in to get them and strike of the chicken. So I now have four turkeys in varying stages of broodiness and one chicken. The blacks are just plain vicious. I have to grab them as far back as possible to still pen their wings without them being able to reach my hand, and since two share the nest it's a bit complicated as one can peck while I'm grabbing the other. So it's lift and toss X2. But I do have hands of shoe leather, so easier for me to take a peck.
Oooh. I'm blessed in that my broodies don't really go for me! :(

Yes, mine either.. they threaten with dinosaur growls but that’s about it...
We got the yard fence put up :celebrate... tomorrow I will be tying string across it for protection.. and spending the day in the coop as I let Nilky and the babies out to integrate... she was acting frantic last night.. she wanted out and to roost with the BGs... I have already cut a hole in their section and two of the babies walked out and Mak.. one of the middles went after one :rant... but the BGs were looking at them like... hey, what are those tiny things running around ... hopefully Nilky will do her job.. I think she will..

It's been a weird sort of day. At low tide we saw our first wallaby in ages. I think she might be female with young in her pouch judging by those hips!:lau

And we finally heard back from the Bee Guy. We have just bought our first beehive. It is coming through the mail ~ with a book on how one does this...:gig:fl:idunno

thank you - I'm in Illinois (USA) this past winter didn't have much snow but usually we have a lot. If you are ever in need just let me know. You can have all the snow I've got.
I appreciate the thought but I can't see me being in need of snow any time soon. I hate the stuff. It was a novelty for about the 1st 5 minutes when we saw it in Norway ~ & that was it. Ghastly stuff. Wet. Cold. lol
