Ribh's D'Coopage

Friends, may I ask your opinions? In order to keep the eggs coming, I've made a plan to add two pullets every three years. Does that seem senisible?

That’s essentially my plan as well (but on a larger scale, because... farm) and if I get enough/heavier bodied birds then I might start “retiring” them to the freezer  instead. Right now the layers get little graves when they do go. I’ve begun marking them with stones as well to prevent an accidental disinterment.

Oh gosh... speaking of that... when my boys were little they were out playing in the yard.. digging around.. and they come running in.. “we found something!! I keep pulling but it’s hard to get!” I’m like.. well, keep digging! After awhile they come in screaming “aaahhh, it’s Jericho’s skull!!!!!” Yes, they dug up our old dog skull :lau... and I hope yall don’t think less of me but I actually let him bring it to “show and tell” at school .... hey, boys will be boys :gig

...once it’s been cleaned by being buried for long enough  I traumatized my father and all my new co-workers at a job... with a taxidermy project for hot rod parts, they never asked me to tell them something no one there knew about me again :D

Oh. My.
But, boys, yeah.. My twins found a brown snake [road kill & one of our more venomous varieties] that they took to school for *show & tell*. Yep. I let them. I found them a jar & everything. Their teacher was not impressed. I'm pretty cool @ that level but Twin 1 did my head in one day. He arrived with an old coke can & asked could he keep his new pet that was living in it so I asked what sort of a pet? I was thinking frog; maybe spider; lizard... Nope. He watched a red bellied black crawl in there & brought it home. Um... No. Just no, son.:smackHordes of snake stories. Comes of living in the bush!:gig

Here’s all the chookies out in their yard... ignore the blue tarp.. it’ll come down when the flowers grow up... I don’t want them getting damp or too much wind..

When my son was a toddler we were taking a walk and he saw a garter snake. He kept running after it but by the time he bent to pick it up it moved away. I was dying inside worried that he would catch it and show it to me. I didn't want him getting my phobias.
I didn't need to worry he could not bend down fast enough - thank goodness.
